Fast becoming our most popular engine conversion, the Cummins 4.5L is a reliable, efficient and powerful option for daily driving whilst having more than enough capability to tow with ease.

One of the most frequent questions we get asked about this conversion, is ‘what is the fuel economy?’. The answer always leaves clients pleasantly surprised! The expected economy range in your average Nissan Patrol or Toyota Landcruiser set up to tour the country is approximately 10-12L/100km, depending on your individual set up. Regardless, these figures will be much better than the late model V8 Landcruisers, or standard engines like the ZD30, TD42, 1HZ etc with an identical set up.

“This is my rig below. Super heavy and lots for drag with the RTT.
I have 35 in tyres with diff gear ratio of 3.5.
I sit on 100 km/hr at 1700 rpm 5th gear
I sit on 110km/hr at 1900 rpm 5th gear
I used 24.4L and travelled 201 km on freeway with a couple of accidents to slow and stop for.
Equals 12.14L/100kms.”

I am contemplating purchasing a GU patrol and get a conversion done with the 4.5ltr Cummins, I have seen your clip on youtube.
I have several quick questions to ask prior to contacting yourself via phone, could you tell me is there any year model that is better suited for conversion, I was think of 2002 – 2006ish, likewise is manual or auto better to take this engine swap and obviously what is the general ball park figure to have this all supplied and fitted.
looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Stuart,

It’s easier with the earlier models, and a matter of preference between the auto or manual. If you’re intending on towing frequently we would recommend the upgrade to a 4l80e GM auto box, as this is an ideal match for the 4.5L.

Drive in drive out, pricing starts from $34,000 (not including engineering) for a manual.

    Hope that helps!
